Developing an accessible community skate park

This community project is fundraising to expand and improve the currently small skate park and turn it into a street style skate plaza. There is nothing like this in the area. The Skate bowl in Finsbury Park is extremely popular with skaters, BMXers, scooters and roller-skaters of all ages, backgrounds and genders. But at its current size its not big enough for all who want to use it.

It’s not currently wheelchair accessible and the new Skate Plaza will be. We will also offer free lessons to get beginners involved. Skateboarding and BMXing are great for focus, risk assessment, patience, determination, self-belief and are both fantastic cardio work outs.

“Finsbury Park is a diverse area with a lot of young people who deserve a safe, challenging and fun Skate Park to help them increase physical and mental wellbeing and create a connected community that they can belong to. The Skate community is hugely welcoming and supportive of each other and with Skate Boarding being an official sport at the Olympics for the first time this year the popularity and career opportunities in this sector will explode.”
