Funding a School Library

Tufnell Park is an Islington based primary school, which has been at the heart of its community for over 70 years. In September 2019, they moved into their new state-of-the-art building, with additional dedicated teaching facilities, including a teaching kitchen, a music and dance studio and SEN suite with sensory room.

Funding from the Morris Charitable Trust contributed to the installation of a new library at Tufnell Park Primary School. Including brand new books, comfortable furniture, a giant reading bed, and a wall mural featuring Jo’s dog, the library has become one of the most special rooms in the school. A love of reading is an essential part of becoming a lifelong learner and this space has provided a space that pupils can come and do just that.

“To have been able to provide such a warm, imaginative and creative space at the heart of our new building has transformed the reading habits and culture in the school. Observing children use the space to curl up with a book, just as we imagined, is so rewarding”
